The Langtang Valley trek is an exciting 11 day adventure into the Himalayas directly north of Kathmandu. The trek offers you the best of what the Himalayas have to offer - spectacular mountain views, traditional Tamang villages, and stunning bamboo forests. During the trek, you will be completely surrounded by the mountains and have the chance to see an awe inspiring sunrise behind the mountains from Tserko Ri. This trek also offers the unique opporunity to see and learn about the impact of the devastating earthquakes in April and May 2015 on the lives of local communities and witness how they are rebuilding their livelihoods. 

This trek is ideal for beginners and is easy- moderate in difficulty.

Day by Day Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft) 

Day 02: Kathmandu: trek preparation 

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 7-8 hours 

Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hours 

Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village: 6-7 hours 

Day 06:  Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 4-5 hours 

Day 07: Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) 7-8 hours 

Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours 

Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi: 4-5 hours 

Day 10: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu 

Day 11: Final departure

  • Personal expenses (phone calls, laundry, bar bills, battery recharge, bottle or boiled water, big thermos water/tea, shower etc)

List of clothing

  • 2 quick drying long sleeved base layer shirts
  • 3 short sleeve trekking shirts
  • 2 pairs of thermal pants (base layer)
  • 2 pairs of liner socks 
  • 3 pairs of woolen trekking socks 
  • 2 pairs of trekking pants with zip off bottoms
  • 2 fleece sweaters – one lightweight, one heavier.

Outer Layers

  • 1 wind/rain proof overlayer– jacket and pants
  • 1 down jacket 
  • 1 warm winter hat/ beanie
  • 1 headband/buff
  • 1 pair of gloves
  • 1 pair of trekking boots
  • 1 pair of sandals/sneakers
  • 1 pair of down booties (great for keeping feet warm in room and while sleeping and for in the lodge)

  • 1 camelback (water pack)

  • Water purification tablets/Steripen/Drops
  • 1 pair of sunglasses
